Liberal Democrat Policies

The Liberal Democrats are a political party in the United Kingdom. The Lib Dems would like Great Britain to have a constitution that ensures and protects the rights of the British people and the responsibility of the Government and a Bill of Rights that will provide all of the citizens of the United Kingdom a complete guarantee of civil liberties.

The Liberal Democrats’ platform lobbies for laws that make all forms of discrimination illegal. Under the Lib Dem vision discriminating on an individual based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, or religion would become illegal.

They are asking the government to continue to protect the rights of religious groups, and gay men and lesbian men, in respect to discrimination against them in the manner of the provision of goods, services, or facilities. First proposed was the legalization of same sex marriages and the end of differences in law regarding pensions and other benefits granted to heterosexual couples.

Lib Dems believe in a free and open society which seeks to balance the values of liberty and equality where no one is enslaved by poverty, ignorance, or forced conformity. Lib Dems proclaim themselves to be the champions of freedom and well being of individuals and the ability of all to develop their potential.

In fact, the other reason the Lib Dems believe a person can be deprived of freedom or rightfully be held against their will is to prevent the potential of an individual or group to commit harm against others.
